In the name of forgiveness
THIS MUCH I LEARNED

Assurance Izevbizua with Elder Wallace in May, 2008

The true solution.

The lame lay on his belly for years. He had been made fun of, ridiculed and rejected. He lay in misery, pain, hunger for most of his life.  Every now and then he was thrown some coins by passersby.  His life was not full, not whole, not satisfying.

Then Jesus came by. Jesus told the lame man: "Just get up and walk." All the lame man had to do was get up, pack his mat and few belongings and keep moving.  The element of this miracle was the decision; deciding, making up his mind to rid himself of his lameness, his disability.

The greatest disability today, the greatest obstacle to success, to a good life is our inability to forgive others, to let go. We carry our disability with us, laying on our belly for "thirty years"  We dwell on it, wallow in our misery, going over and over in our minds how much we have been wronged.

Then, even more disappointingly, we dwell too much on our inadequacies, our shortcomings, how we failed ourselves, how we failed  those close to us.  We do not forgive.  And yet the secret to success is to forgive, forgive we missed the basket, forgive we missed the goal, forgive we struck out, and move on to the next game. THAT MUCH I LEARNED.
